Handmade Wooden Flute

Felt pads you all know. We recommend magnetic, but if for any reason you trust felt more, we give you the option. Magnetic pads can be considered in a category of hard professional pads because they have stabilizers, they are 1.5mm thick and compress about the same as other professional pads. In many ways they are superior to all other pads on the market. As with any professional pad, magnetic requires fine shimming and more work, which results in faster response and overall better instrument. The price of this option reflects that.

Gold and rhodium are precious metals which don’t tarnish. We are doing real high quality plating in a thickness that should last for many years depending on the elements the flute is exposed to. The exact thickness in microns will be listed once we have done a few. This is a new feature.

We have to go through a number of pieces of wood to select one without imperfections, and that adds to the cost. Many times when you start milling the wood, imperfections that were hidden show up. The African blackwood is already pre-selected and there isn’t that much waste, so the price is lower. Other woods are pretty much on trial. Adding more wood options as we speak…

let us know about your preference. High tension means you like to play strong, light means you are a gentle player. Most will want to stay in the middle which is also the best for the mechanism.

Return and warranty protection: Our flutes are shipped in a perfectly playable condition free of mechanical flaws, and leaks. If for some reason the flute goes out of adjustment, you can use the adjustment screws yourself, or bring it to your technician. All flutes go out of adjustment, no matter how expensive. Our warranty and return are not “no questions asked” and if there is a serious problem that we missed, we will repair it, or you can send it back. If you are not able to adjust it, we will assign a flute technician to repair it. Shipping to and from the local service person is not included. This policy is what allows us to offer ridiculously low prices, and we hope you appreciate that.
