- Total Surface Control: Beyond the Center-Screw Traditional pads are only secured at the center, leaving the outer edges—the most critical part of the seal—unsupported. While some high-end pads use rigid plastic inserts to fight this, they become stiff and notoriously difficult to shim.
- Our system uses a multi-polar, one-sided Neodymium rubber magnet installed in the cup to create a uniform magnetic field. Because the bottom of our pad is infused with nano-iron powder, the entire surface area adheres to the cup evenly. This gives you the best of both worlds: the absolute flatness of a rigid pad with the flexible, “shimmable” nature of a traditional one.
Will my flute become a magnet? In a word: No. It is a common concern, but our system is engineered with “closed-circuit” physics. We use a one-sided, multi-polar Neodymium magnet where both North and South poles are positioned on a single face. This means the magnetic pull is focused entirely upward into the nano-iron core of the pad. The magnetic field is effectively “locked” between the stabilizer and the pad. In fact, the external field is so negligible that even a small steel needle won’t stick to the outside of the key cup. Your springs, mechanism, and nearby stands remain completely unaffected.
Play it Cool: Caring for Your Magnetic System While our pads are built for the rigors of the stage, they do have one natural enemy: extreme heat. Like all high-performance Neodymium systems, the magnets can lose their strength if exposed to temperatures above $80°C or 176°F. We assume you aren’t planning to bake your flute or leave it on a dashboard in the scorching summer sun! By keeping your instrument in standard, comfortable environments, your magnetic pads will maintain their “snap” for a lifetime.
