Body and headjoint can be either nickel silver or 925 silver. Keys are always cupronickel or nickel silver or a combination. The entire flute is then plated, and you can chose the plating option below.

The exact thickness is currently not precisely known but you can be sure that you will get what you pay for. Precious metal plating solutions are very expensive. Even the tiny amount of rhodium that’s normally used for jewelry, and the standard is 0.03 microns, on the whole flute is over $100 minimum factory cost, so 0.5 microns would be considered a solid layer because rhodium is very tough, and of course doesn’t tarnish. Gold is actually much cheaper, and we can apply a bit thicker layer. Silver is relatively cheap. Another option we offer is silver plus rhodium just like a lot of silver or white gold jewelry is rhodium plated, but it’s a very thin layer which just gives tarnish protection and extra brightness for a while depending on your body chemistry humidity and pollution where you live.
